King Charles III Coronation

King Charles III Coronation

The Coronation service of King Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday 6th May 2023, where His Majesty the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, Queen Consort.

Plans for the Coronation Weekend

👑 Saturday 6th May

Coronation Service in Westminster Abbey, coronation procession, Buckingham Palace balcony appearance by members of the royal family.

🎶 Sunday 7th May

Coronation concert and lightshow at Windsor Castle to be broadcast live by the BBC.

🥪 Big Lunch

The Coronation Big Lunch, where neighbours are invited to share food and fun together across the weekend between Saturday 6th and Monday 8th May, an information pack can be found at Coronation 'Big Lunch'.

🎉 Street Parties

The Parish Council won't be hosting a big lunch for the Coronation, but would encourage those residents wishing to celebrate the Coronation to decorate their homes with bunting/red white and blue decorations and/or hold a street party.

If you would like to organise a street party with friends and neighbours over the Coronation weekend you may need to apply for a temporary road closure.

Applications for road closures should be made by Monday 27th March 2023 - there is no charge for Coronation commemoration road closures that are being held between 6th and 8th May.

👐 Monday 8th May

An additional public holiday has been granted for Monday 8th May, and members of the public are invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which encourages people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend.

Although the parish council wont be hosting a big lunch, we will be celebrating by decorating lampposts throughout the village with Coronation decorations.
