Who we are & what we do

Roade Parish Council consists of 13 Councillors who serve for a four year term.

All Councillors are voluntary and receive no payment whatsoever. They reside/work within the Parish and are holders of a public office. They give up their own time and commit to working on your behalf to make our community a great place to live.

What we do:

  • Maintain play areas*
  • Buy dog poo bins
  • Purchase CCTV to assist with crime reduction measures - crimes need reporting to Northamptonshire police by phoning 101 or 999 in an emergency
  • Mow verges* and purchase street furniture
  • Provide litter bins
  • Street lighting**
  • Maintain parks and open spaces*
  • Community safety schemes
  • Comment on planning applications - the final planning decision is made by West Northamptonshire Council
  • Promote community transport schemes
  • Street Cleaning - litter picking
  • Organise and/or assist with festivals and celebrations
  • provide leisure facilities
  • Burial authority for the village
  • issue small grants to local groups
  • install vehicle activation devices to record the speed of traffic through the village

* Areas we do not look after - Walkers Way estate, Chaplins Estate and The Pianoforte development, these are maintained by the builder's management companies.

** We do not maintain the streetlights on Chaplins Estate or Pianoforte development. We do look after the streetlights on Walkers Way, but the security lighting in the car park areas are the responsibility of the management company.

The Parish Office Opening times Monday - Thursday 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 2pm and Fridays 10am - 12pm.

We regret that the parish council offices are not accessible to all visitors. If you have any accessibility requirements, please call or email so we can make arrangements to accommodate you or arrange a location to meet that suits your needs.

Roade Parish Council is staffed by the Clerk who works full time - 37 hours a week and the Deputy Clerk who works part time - 12 hours a week.

    Standing orders were readopted at the Parish Council meeting held on 13th February 2023.

Our Staff

The Council employs a Clerk and Deputy Clerk.

The Clerk is responsible for ensuring that the Council as a whole conducts it's business properly and provides independent, objective and processional advice and support to the Council.

The Deputy Clerk provides support to the Parish Clerk, undertaking a variety of duties to support the smooth and effective operation of the Council.

The Clerk is employed full time and the Deputy Clerk is employed part time, both can be contacted by phone or email.

Our Contractors

The Parish Council employ various contractors who provide a range of services to ensure that our village is maintained to a high standard.

These include Andy and Lyn self employed Village Technicians who ensure that the village and cemetery are maintained to a high standard.

All Seasons Gardening and Logs who ensure that the grass areas within our village are cut and maintained.

Marcus Young Landscapes who empty all of the dog waste bins throughout the village on a Tuesday morning, with an additional empty of the dog waste bin along Ashton Road, Churchcroft Open Space and Hyde Road (outside the Football Club) on a Friday morning.
